It's almost 10 years we train and race. We are looking for the ideal wheel, the one able to take us to our maximal effort, to improve our performances. We had to face the reality. Slowly we were moving away from it. The wheel universe was radically changing course, the industrialization got the upper hand.
The automation moved the performance away from the cyclists needs. High level sports always relied on small structures driven by artisans. This is the case of the Formula 1, the 24H du Mans prototypes, the motorbike GP. They all work with components made by artisans, unique, impossible to make by large companies. This is also the case of the sports involving sliding or gliding such as skiing, surfing and windsurfing... «The wheel universe was radically changing course, the automation got the upper hand. »
In cycling, this kind of structure did not exist and we were forced to follow the crowd, to use what the manufacturers imposed us.
The solution was obvious: to return to the source. The handbuilt wheels, assembled with traditionnal components and a rigorous building procedure offered the characteristics we were looking for, and the feelings that disappeared with the excess of automation. The experience we gained with the hundreds wheels we made, the tries, tests, optimizations, materialized the absolute wheel, the one perfectly adapted to a cyclist need. RouesArtisanales.com was born on February 2005. We opened the first artisanales wheels boutique later.
Cycling is one of the most difficult sport. Hygiene, experience, rigor and hard-line attitude are adjectives the racers learn with the time. The pro riders learn them of course, but not only. The amateurs, passionnated riders, we are all aware of its difficulties and the sacrifices it imposes us.
